jayceedeeo Great concept executed very well. Ballet and noise go together far better than they have any right to. Favorite track: Act 1. Dream of a Fly Transforming into a Jazz Band Part I.

about

I created this album as an ode to works by several prominent surrealist artists. I produced some tracks as soundscapes for particular artworks, whereas other tracks follow a more rigid structure.

Conceptually, I see the album as music for a ballet which does not exist. I wanted to structure and pace Act I in a similar way to Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring". Act II, on the other hand, is meant to follow a similar pace to Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". Indeed, I wanted the pieces in Act II to feel more like standalone pieces.

As you may have noticed, the names of some pieces don't just refer to the works of surrealist artists. However, I wish to leave their interpretation up to the listener's imagination, at least for the moment.

I worked on the album for just over a year. I really do hope you gain something from listening to it. If not, thank you for taking the time regardless! :)

DISCLAIMERS:
- I mixed and mastered this album purely with stereo listening in mind. In mono, the mixes have a lofi quality which is brought about by phase cancellation introduced by the stereo widening I applied across the album. I may remix the album for mono separately, but I didn't want to make any sacrifices to the mix in stereo, and hence decided against mixing and mastering for mono (at least to a large extent).

- Note that playback of the album in Bandcamp on a browser seems to remove the seamless transitions.
